Meet Rachel, Senior Accountant, seeker of smarter ways to get the job done, lover of the colour aqua, and cherished member of the Orbit crew.
If you haven’t had the absolute delight of working with Rachel one to one, here’s your opportunity to get to know one of our superstars making more possible for our partners.
How did your journey at Orbit begin?
“I’ve known Greg (Orbit’s Co-founder, CPA & Director) since 2000 and worked for him even before Orbit kicked off. I began working at Orbit over five years ago, I loved the small team and the can-do mindset of the company.
Initially, I was primarily doing Bookkeeping & BAS, which has grown into a role that includes looking after all aspects (tax, advice etc.) for several clients. We have lots of fun at Orbit, and I really enjoy the team approach to getting things done in the most efficient way possible for our clients.
What does a typical day at Orbit look like for you?
My day is usually a mixture of everything our clients need as not only am I a Senior Accountant, I’m also the virtual CFO for my group of clients. This includes everything from tax, BAS, payroll admin, paying accountants and budgeting and business advice. There’s also plenty of emails and a few calls with clients thrown in the mix.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?
I love helping clients, it’s what motivates me every day. If I can take the hassle out of the financial reporting and develop good processes for a client, it makes me (and the client) very happy.
What do you love most about being part of the Orbit family?
At Orbit, I have the freedom to liaise directly with clients, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I have amazing clients, and they’re what I love most about my job. I also feel lucky to have a lot of flexibility with my work.
How does being part of Orbit make more possible for you?
I have two boys, and the flexibility Orbit provides allows me to be there for all of their special events at school, and when I’m not there or at work, you might find me enjoying a G&T outside in the sun!”
While it’s not a requirement to be part of the Orbit family, Rachel also understands our love for a good G&T (she is head of our drinks committee). On the other hand, a genuine passion for helping our partners build better businesses so they can chase their bright ideas and accomplish what they actually went into business for, is a necessity and Rachel brings that in spades.
